9A- Testing the Hypothesis Part 2

Who:

Interview 1:

The first person that I interviewed had a gas powered scooter and said he would not use the system of rental bikes.

Interview 2:

The second person walked everywhere and would most likely utilize a system of bikes to get through campus.

Interview 3:

This person had their car, and stated that he may use it if he needed to get somewhere quickly and had to cut through campus.

Interview 4:

The fourth person had a gas powered scooter and said he would not use the system of bikes.

Interview 5:

The last person I interviewed said that they do not have any form of transportation, however, would probably not use a system of bikes if she had to pay for it.

What:

The need for college students to maintain an active lifestyle while also promoting environmental conservation.

Why:

The people that fall outside of the my need already have preferred transportation or are already active.

Inside the boundary:

Who is in: Those who do not have a preferred form of transportation or are looking to live a more active lifestyle.

What the need is: A eco-friendly way to get through campus.

Why the need exists: Traditional forms of transportation cannot cut through campus like bikes can, and are not environmentally friendly.

Outside the boundary:

Who is out: Those who already have a preferred form of transportation and already live an active lifestyle.

What the need is not: A personal form of transportation. This would be a series of privately owned bikes rented to the campus community for their convenience.

Alternative explanations: People could buy their own bike, skateboard, or scooter.

  1. Hi Jakob! Since your protypical customer is going to be college students, who don't have that much disposable income, in order for them to want to pay for your services I think having incentives which I briefly mentioned in your last post would be a great idea. Rewards or a community where they can "compete" with friends on how far they have riden a bike is a great way to promote the healthy lifestyle side of your services.

  2. Hi Jakob!
I agree with Kaylee and her comments about having an incentive. Lots of large city's like New York and Paris have bike renting services where the product is in high demand. I guess what you have to settle is what you will do to make that demand exist in Gainesville.

  3. Hello Jakob,
I think you have a really cool name and it is an interesting way of spelling it. Your post was really attention grabbing as well. Your interviews brought out a lot of really useful information that you can use to further develop your idea. I think you did a good job of structuring this post as well so that the most important information is clearly visible. Really great job and I look forward to reading your other posts.
